Types of Occlusal Splints

We offer a range of occlusal splints designed to cater to specific patient needs. Here are the types available at Yen Dental Laboratory:

Hard Splint

Our hard splints offer a dependable solution for individuals experiencing bruxism or teeth grinding. These meticulously crafted dental appliances are made from durable hard acrylic materials and are designed to fit snugly over the upper or lower arch.

Crafted from sturdy acrylic materials, these custom-made appliances provide a secure and even fit over the upper or lower arch. By wearing a hard splint, you can protect your dentition, mitigate the effects of bruxism, and maintain a neutral jaw position during sleep. Regular dental check-ups are crucial to assess the condition of your hard splint and ensure its continued effectiveness.

Hard splints are meticulously manufactured to provide a secure and even fit. With a flat occlusal plane, they ensure optimal contact with opposing teeth, offering comprehensive protection. This is especially beneficial for patients who experience moderate to severe bruxism or engage in frequent teeth grinding or clenching. By wearing a hard splint at night, the jaw is positioned neutrally, reducing pressure on the teeth and jaw joints.

Semi-Solid (Hard Outside and Soft Inside)

Semi-solid (soft/hard) dental splints are ingeniously crafted using a two-layer design. The outer layer is made from tough acrylic material, creating a durable shell that shields your teeth from the damaging effects of grinding and clenching. The inner layer, composed of a softer thermoplastic material, rests directly on the teeth, providing enhanced comfort during wear. This combination of materials ensures both resilience and patient satisfaction.

These splints are particularly effective in addressing mild to moderate bruxism, offering reliable protection against teeth grinding. Moreover, the inclusion of the softer thermoplastic layer enhances patient comfort, increasing compliance with treatment protocols.

One of the notable advantages of soft/hard splints is their superior comfort compared to traditional hard splints. This characteristic makes them an excellent choice for patients who may be sensitive or apprehensive about using hard splints. By prioritising patient comfort, soft/hard splints promote improved compliance with wearing the splint regularly, thus optimising their effectiveness in managing bruxism and minimising potential dental complications.

Soft Occlusal Splint

Soft dental splints are crafted using a specialised soft resin that is fully biocompatible. This resin has been optimised for precision 3D printing, making it the perfect material for creating flexible occlusal splints. By utilising this advanced resin, our soft splint delivers the strength necessary to safeguard dentition against the damaging effects of bruxism, all while prioritising patient comfort.

These splints are colour-stable, transparent, and highly polishable, ensuring a discreet and natural appearance. Additionally, their stain-resistant properties allow for easy maintenance and a long-lasting pristine appearance.
